Paramount has won a bidding war to snatch up the new horror/thriller spec THE OBERLIN INCIDENT from writer Cory Goodman.
The project, which hit the market late Monday from Verve, entered into a three studio bidding war that culminated in a high six figure deal with Paramount winning the project and setting Aperture Entertainment and Safehouse Pictures to produce. Aperture’s Adam Goldworm and Safehouse’s Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell will produce. Details on the project are being kept under wraps, but it’s being pitched as a unique spin on the horror thriller tropes of today.
Goodman has been an in demand studio writer for some time now, having previously set up his project Hood with Sony, and seeing his spec Lore at Warner Bros. recently have Dwayne Johnson board in a starring capacity. Prior to these he’s also written the latest installement in the Underworld franchise – Underworld: Blood Wars, the Vin Diesel-starring The Last Witch Hunter, and the comic book adaptation Priest. He’s also appeared on the Black List, Hit List and Young & Hungry List in years past.
Goodman is repped by David Boxerbaum of Verve and Adam Goldworm of Aperture Entertainment
