Patrick Wilson, Ted Danson, and Jean Smart have inked deals to round out the cast for the second installment of FARGO. The miniseries franchise is inspired by the hugely popular Cohen brothers movie by the same name. This season will be set in 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota. Wilson stars as young State Police Officer Lou Solverson, a former Vietnam Navy-man turned clean-cut Minnesota State Patrolman, father and devoted husband. Danson will play Hank Larsson, the Sheriff of Rock County, Minnesota and Solverson’s father-in-law. Smart will play Floyd Gerhardt, the matriarch of the Gerhardt crime family who takes over the reigns now that her husband is no longer around. The three new additions will be joined by previously confirmed actors Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons, as well as reoccurring characters played by Nick Offerman, Brad Garrett, Kieran Culkin, Bokeem Woodbine, Jeffrey Donovan and Angus Sampson.
Wilson spent much of his early career singing lead in major Broadway musicals before he appeared in the HBO miniseries Angels in America. The award winning thespian has since appeared in films such as The Alamo, The Phantom of the Opera, Watchmen, The A-Team, and Insidious. It was recently announced that he will be reprising his role as Ed Warren in The Conjuring 2: The Ensfield Poltergeist.
Danson is most recognized for his role as “Sam Malone” in the 1982 television series Cheers. The Emmy Award and Golden Globe awards winner has since starred in shows including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Damages, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Smart is a veteran stage and television actress who starred as Martha Logan on 24 and Regina Newly on Samantha Who? and has made appearances on shows such as American Dad, Psych, Hawaii Five-0, and Hot In Cleveland.
