Allison Janney and Morena Baccarin are both set to star in Paul Feig’s comedy SPY. Janney will play Elaine Crocker, a tough CIA agent with a biting sense of humor, while Baccarin has been cast as Karen Walker. The two actresses join an impressive cast that includes Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Jude Law and Rose Byrne, just to name a few.
Janney is best known for her dramatic turn as White House Press Secretary C.J. Cregg on “The West Wing” but she’s just as comfortable playing comedic roles. Her comedy credits include “Juno,” “The Way Way Back,” and, more recently, “Bad Words.” She also stars opposite Anna Faris on the CBS hit comedy “Mom.” Her upcoming roles include another McCarthy project “Tammy,” as well as “The Rewrite,” a rom-com starring Hugh Grant and Marisa Tomei.
Baccarin got her start on the short-lived series “Firefly” before going on to a starring role in another short-lived series “V.” She was recently nominated for an Emmy for her role as Jessica Brody on Showtime’s “Homeland.”
