The Heat scribe Katie Dippold has been tapped to write GHOSTBUSTERS 3. The next installment of the supernatural franchise has long been in development at Sony but has had more than its fair share of setbacks along the way – from dropping the idea of having the original cast reprise their roles to Ivan Reitman dropping out as the director. The Heat director Paul Feig is putting himself at the helm and wants to turn toward a more female-centric cast this time around.
After writing for TV series like MADtv and NBC’s Parks and Recreation, Dippold switched to film, penning the script for 2013’s comedy The Heat. Next up, Dippold is writing the sequel The Heat 2, as well as an untitled baby escape comedy centering on a group of infants plotting a Great Escape-type breakout.
Dippold is repped by WME and 3 Arts Entertainment.
