Director Paul Feig has left Universal’s planned third sequel BRIDGET JONES 3, a film that would see Renee Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant reprise their original roles. Although Universal and Feig part ways, Feig leaves a screenplay behind for the potential new helmer to consider, who reportedly might be British. It makes sense when you consider the roots of the original film to want an Englishman in the director’s chair. What’s interesting his the return of Colin Firth, who is now an Oscar winner. It seems the British thesp hasn’t forgot about his roots as well.
Feig, however, has no shortage of projects to ponder over. He is slated to re-team with Judd Apatow on a new comedy that will see Jon Hamm potentially take the lead role as a man obsessed with a woman, played by Melissa McCarthy. Then comes the “Bridesmaids” sequel, which may or may not include Kristen Wiig.
Feig is repped by CAA.
