Ghostbusters helmer Paul Feig is circling the director’s chair for Mindy Kaling’s forthcoming comedy set in the world of late night talk shows. Kaling wrote the script which was recently acquired by Fox 2000 and she will star in the project alongside Emma Thompson.
The movie follows a late-night talk show host (Thompson) who is in danger of losing her show when she hires the first female writer (Kaling) on her team. Kaling will also produce alongside Scott Rudin and Howard Klein. Elizabeth Gabler and Nikki Ramey are set to oversee for Fox.
Feig is no stranger to directing female-driven movies. In addition to the aforementioned all-female Ghostbusters reboot, he also helmed Bridesmaids, The Heat, and Spy. His experience with those movies are posed to mesh well with Kaling’s script.
He is repped by CAA and DAA Management.
