Ray Donovan alumna Paula Malcomson has been tapped for an important guest-starring role while Da Vinci’s Demons Blake Ritson has been cast as the series villain in Syfy’s Superman prequel series KRYPTON.
The series is set two generations before the legendary destruction of Krypton, based on the DC characters created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The show will follow Superman’s grandfather, played by Cameron Cuffe, whose House of El was shamed. He then must fight to redeem his families legacy and save his beloved home from destruction.
Malcomson will play Charys, the leader of House El. She will help her son Seg navigate the pitfalls of Kandor City.
Ritson will play the iconic villain Brainiac, a parasitic alien android, and also one of Superman’s oldest foes.
Also starring is Georgina Campbell, Elliot Cowan, Ann Ogbomo, Rasmus Hardiker, Ian McElhinney and Aaron Pierre.
Executive producing is David S. Goyer, under his Phantom Four banner. Cameron Welsh serves as executive producer and showrunner.
Paula Malcomson is best known for playing Abby on five seasons of Ray Donovan. She will soon begin working on BBC’s miniseries, Come Home, alongside Christopher Eccleston. She is represented by UTA and Troika.
Blake Riston is best known for playing Riario in Da Vinci’s Demons for Starz. He was most recently seen as the villain Charlie Havistock on Indian Summers. He’s represented by Curtis Brown, ICM Partners and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.
Krytpon is set for a 2018 premiere.
