There’s a new batch of contenders to helm ANT-MAN. Ever since Edgar Wright dropped out of the project due to creative differences, it seems like there’s a new frontrunner every other day. Today’s potential helmers are Peyton Reed and David Wain.
Reed is known for light comedies and rom-coms including “Down With Love,” “The Break-Up,” and “Yes Man,” so while this wouldn’t be exactly in his comfort zone, he might be the right guy to lend an air of levity to the project. Marvel was looking at comedy helmer Adam McKay, too, so expect this project to stick to a lighter tone. Reed is set to direct the upcoming Brian Epstein biopic “The Fifth Beatle.”
Actor/director Wain has appeared in comedies “Keeping the Faith,” “Along Came Polly,” and “Role Models,” before directing the Amy Poehler/Paul Rudd comedy “They Came Together” for Lionsgate, which is set to premiere later this month. He has also been at the helm of “Wanderlust,” “The Ten,” and “Role Models.”
Reed is repped by WME. Wain is with WME and Principato-Young Entertainment.
