“Phantom Thread” Star Vicky Krieps Joins “The Girl in the Spider’s Web”

After her breakout role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread, is set to join Sony and MGM’s THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB, the sequel to The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Claire Foy stars as Lisbeth Salander, Sylvia Hoeks (Blade Runner 2049) as Salander’s twin sister, and Claes Bang (The Square) as the villain. Character details about Krieps’ role is being kept under wraps.

The film is directed by Don’t Breath helmer Fede Alvarez off of Steven Knight’s screenplay based on David Lagercrant’z bestselling series. Amy Pascal and Elizabeth Cantillon will produce the film along with Scott Rudin and Yellow Bird. The Sony Pictures Millennium film is currently in production in Stockholm and Berlin.

Krieps was known for her work in Europe on films that included The Young Karl Marx and Gutland before landing the role opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in Phantom Thread. Her performance received rave reviews and the film earned multiple Oscar nominations. She is represented by Players Agentur Management and Tavistock Wood.

The Girl in the Spider’s Web hits theaters on November 9.
