Philip Kadelbach is confirmed to direct the upcoming WWII thriller series, SS:GB, at BBC that follows Detective Superintendent Douglas Archer, a Scotland Yard homicide investigator in Nazi-occupied England. With the director confirmed, talks are now in place for Sam Riley to star as Archer. Filming is set to begin this fall.
German director Kadelbach has won several awards, including an International Emmy, a German TV Academy Award, and a Jupiter Award for his work in European television. Riley has been seen on screen when he played Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis in Control, Sal Paradise in the film adaptation of On the Road, and shape-shifting henchman Diaval in Disney’s Maleficent.
