Pierce Brosnan Snags Sam Neil’s Spot On AMC Drama “The Son”

AMC drama THE SON has tapped to star after losing previously cast Sam Neil. The role marks a return to television for the former Bond as he starred in NBC’s Remington Steele over thirty years ago.

The series is based on the book by Philipp Meyer and is written by Meyer, Lee Shipman, and Brian McGreevy. It is described as a multi-generational epic tale of the story of America’s birth as a superpower through the bloody rise and fall of one Texas family.

Brosnan replaces Neil as Eli, the charismatic patriarch of the McCullough family. As a child, he was kidnapped and raised among the Comanche Native American tribe and applies the brutal Comanche worldview to his business dealings. He was born on the day Texas became an independent Republic, earning the nickname “First Son of Texas” and is a relic of the Wild West, uneasy with the inexorable taming of Texas and the uncertain future of his legacy.

Kevin Murphy and executive produces and showruns the series while Tom Harper directs the first installment. The project hails form Sonar Entertainment and AMC Studios.

Brosnan starred in last year’s No Escape, Survivor, and Some Kind Of Beautiful with Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba. He next stars in and produces the thriller I.T
