James Gun has tapped Pom Klementieff for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 in an unknown role. She joins returning cast Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, and the recently announced Benicio Del Torro who returns as “The Collector.”
Klementieff got her start appearing in French films, with one of her first roles playing stepdaughter to Catherine Deneuve in Après lui. She is best known to American audiences for her role in the Spike Lee remake Oldboy opposite Josh Brolin.
Gunn is set to begin production on the Marvel sequel early next year. He has revealed a few tidbits about the actioner, including that it is a “story about fathers” and when Chris Pratt read the script he cried. He has not said who Klementieff will play or even if she will be working with or against the Guardians.
In the past, people have speculated that the character Mantis may be joining and act as a connector between the Avengers and the Guardians. This could also hold true if Gunn decided to bring in one of the Inhumans whose movie premiere date was just pushed back to Summer 2019 after some release shufflings were announced. Considering the film centers on “fathers,” Klementieff could portray the daughter of Drax, played by Bautista, who supposedly died at the hands of Ronan the Accuser.
