The upcoming drama about a 21st Century pop star has added actor Jude Law to the cast. VOX LUX comes from director-writer Brady Corbet and is currently in development at Killer Groups and Three Six Zero Group.
Law joins previously cast Rooney Mara, who will be playing the singer in question, Celeste. The film will follow Celeste on her 15-year journey as a pop star from 1999 to the present, taking note of the cultural shifts and events over the course of the years through her eyes. Law will play her manager in the film.
The soundtrack for the project will feature original songs by the Grammy-nominated artist Sia. It will also be shot on 65mm large-format film and exhibit on 70mm large-format film, with Kodak backing the film.
Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa of Killer Films are producing alongside Brian Young of Three Six Zero.
Law recently wrapped his role as the lead in the HBO movie The Young Pope. It premiered at Venice Film Festival and will debut on the cable channel in January. Coming up, he’ll appear as the villain in Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and he’s producing a pilot for Amazon titled Mrs. Hemingway.
