Todd Haynes’ CAROL nabs a second star this week in Carrie Brownstein. The drama centers on a lonely department store employee who befriends a housewife in the middle of a divorce and the two set out across the country while being pursued by a private investigator hired by a jealous ex-husband. Brownstein will play Genevieve Cantrell opposite Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara and Kyle Chandler.
Brownstein is best known as the writer and co-creator of “Portlandia,” the popular IFC show she stars in with co-creator Fred Armisen. Her previous acting credits include a small role in “Grace” and a starring role in “Some Days Are Better Than Others.”
Brownstein is repped by Brillstein Entertainment.
