Lifetime original movie FLINT has tapped Queen Latifah, Betsy Brandt, Jill Scott, and Marin Ireland to star. The project from Sony Pictures TV will also be executive produced by Latifah.
The story follows the water-contamination crisis in Flint, MI and is inspired by the Time magazine story “The Toxic Tap” by Josh Sanburn. It centers on three women from Flint who sought justice following the wrongdoing committed against the residents of the city who were unknowingly drinking and using lead-laden water. Their actions inspired a national movement for safe drinking water despite the political powers working against them at every turn.
Executive producing alongside Latifah are Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Shakim Compere, and Katie Couric. Mark Nicholson will co-executive produce. Bruce Beresford is directing a script from Barbara Stepansky. Filming begins in Toronto next week.
Latifah, Zadan, and Meron previously produced the Steel Magnolias remake from Lifetime which was the network’s third most-watched original telecast ever.
Latifah is repped by CAA and Flavor Unit Entertainment.
Brandt is repped by TalentWorks and Patty Woo Management.
Scott is repped by ICM and Maverick.
Ireland is repped by ICM and Brookside Artist Management.
