is in early talks to play the female lead in Marvel’s DR. STRANGE. The film follows Benedict Cumberbatch as a neurosurgeon who becomes Sorcerer Supreme, protecting the Earth against magical and mystical threats. While talks are in the early stages, McAdams would most likely play Clea, a prominent member of Doctor Strange’s supporting cast and his love interest.

She would join Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays Baron Mordo, an enemy of Dr. Strange, and Tilda Swinton, who is rumored to play the Ancient One, Dr. Strange’s mentor. Sinister helmer Scott Derrickson is directing a script by Jon Spaights.

This is not the first time McAdams has been rumored to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She was said to be Jon Favreau’s first choice for Pepper Potts in Iron Man, a role that ultimately went to Gwyneth Paltrow.

McAdams currently stars on the second season of HBO’s True Detective (read this week’s review here). She can also be seen opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in boxing drama Southpaw, which opened this past weekend.

Dr. Strange has a release date of November 4th, 2016.
