Rachel Weisz In Talks To Lead “My Cousin Rachel” Remake

has begun early talks to lead ’s remake of .

is both directing and scripting the adaptation of the Daphne DuMaurier novel, which was previously brought to life in the 1952 classic, which starred Olivia de Havilland and Richard Burton.

The film follows an orphan who plots to to enact vengeance against a beautiful woman who he believes murdered his guardian, but finds his plans complicated when he falls for her.

Weisz most recently appeared in rising director Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster, which premiered to a rave critical reception at Cannes and is set to hit screens in 2016. The pic, which spurned Lanthimos’ next project, also starred Colin Farrell and John C. Reilly. Weisz specifically gave a lauded performance in The Lobster and another 2015 Cannes premiere, Youth, which sees the Oscar winner in a poignant turn as the daughter of Michael Caine’s aging composer.
