The Lobster star Rachel Weisz is in talks to join the upcoming English biopic, THE LAST ROMANTICS, as the lead character, Elizabeth Barrett Browning. The film comes from an original spec script by Janet Dulin Jones.
The project tells the story of popular English poet, Elizabeth Barrett, during the Victorian era and her subsequent relationship with fellow writer Robert Browning. It was a passionate and tumultuous affair, that ultimately led to her father disinheriting her.
Jane Goldenring is producing with her company Goldenring Productions, which most recently produced the Dustin Hoffman film Boychoir. Jane Wright will also be producing.
Jones previously wrote the TV movie What If God Were the Sun? and is currently adapting the Henry James novel The Ambassadors.
Weisz was most recently seen in the drama films The Lobster and Youth. She has several film credits to her name, including The Mummy franchise, and won an Oscar for her role in The Constant Gardener.
