In the film, the former WWE superstar — best known for his role as Drax in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies — will play a hardened CIA operative who finds himself at the mercy of a 9-year-old girl after being sent undercover to watch her family. (Yes, it does sound like this movie in the vein of Schwarzenegger’s Kindergarten Cop and Vin Diesel’s The Pacifier now that you mention it.)
Represented by Verve and Peikoff Mahan, the screenwriters are best known for adapting Warren Ellis’ graphic novel RED into a hit action movie for Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman, as well as its sequel RED 2, both released by Summit. The brothers also wrote the screenplay for the Hasbro Pictures bomb Battleship, as well as the upcoming deep-sea adventure The Meg, starring Jason Statham.
This is one of several projects that STX is developing with Bautista, including a short-form VR series from the company’s immersive content division, STXsurreal. Bautista is repped by Gersh, DMBV and attorney Jay Rosenthal.
