ABC’s critically acclaimed AMERICAN CRIME has signed up Regina King for season three. The actress was nominated for an Emmy for her performance in the first season and is in contention again this year for season two.
King is the first actor cast for the new season which will be set in North Carolina and King will play one of the “complicated individuals caught up in a story that deals with labor issues, economic divides, and individual rights,” says creator John Ridley.
Felicity Huffman and Timothy Hutton also starred in the first two seasons of the anthology series and while they have not made any official announcements, they are expected to return.
King will also appear in season three of HBO’s The Leftovers as Erika Murphy. More recently she has stepped behind the camera to direct episodes of OWN’s Greenleaf and TNT’s new series Animal Kingdom.
She is repped by ICM and John Carrabino Management.
