BIG EYES is based on the true story of painter Margaret Keane and her husband, Walter, who took credit for his wife’s work while she toiled in obscurity.
The long in development project has been host to a sea of changes. At one point the two leads were set with Thomas Hayden Church and Kate Hudson and then that disolved (or evolved depending on your hate preference) into Ryan Reynolds and Reese Witherspoon with Tim Burton on board to produce and writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski to direct. Now everything’s gone and changed again! Tim Burton has swapped places with Alexander and Karaszewski. He will now direct while they produce. The leads have also been cranked up to pretty awesome with Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams.
Burton last directed “Frankenweenie” and is also currently attached to direct “Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”. He is repped by WME. Adams is coming off of “The Master” and will next be seen in the Superman blockbuster “Man of Steel”. She too is repped by WME. Waltz was of course in the explosively amazing “Django Unchained” and is currently filming “The Muppets… Again!” as we speak. He is repped by ICM.
