The former Game of Thrones actor Richard Madden has had no lack of roles after leaving Westeros. His newest one is the lead in STRANGE NEW THINGS, a brand new sci-fi series in development at Amazon and based on Michael Faber’s 2014 novel The Book of Strange New Things.
Madden will play Peter Leigh, an English pastor who leaves his wife Beatrice to become a missionary — to a different planet called Oasis. His journey to the planet, his experiences there, and the distance between him and his wife end up testing many aspects of his life. The project is being set up as a 10-episode event series.
Bridge of Spies scribe Matt Charman will be executive producing the series, as well as penning the pilot, with 11/22/63‘s Kevin MacDonald set to direct. Andy Harries and Lila Rawlings will also be producing.
Beyond Game of Thrones, Madden has appeared in the films A Promise, Cinderella, and Bastille Day. Recently, he also appeared in Kenneth Branagh’s stage production of Romeo and Juliet.
He is repped by Troika (U.K.), WME, and Management 360.
