Awesomeness Films is bringing some of your favorite TV stars together to topline THE STAND-IN, a film directed by Chris Nelson. Riverdale star Camila Mendes, Austin & Ally‘s Laura Marano, The Fosters‘ Noah Centineo and Odiseas Georgiadis have all been cast. Veep‘s Matt Walsh has also signed on to star in the pic, which is currently in production in New Orleans.
The film follows Centineo as Brooks Rattigan, who creates a dating app where he plays the role of a “stand-in” boyfriend for every kind of situation you can imagine. Through the journey of being a different person every night, he finds out the real Brooks isn’t who he thought and to his surprise, falls for the real girl of his dreams.
Mendes will play Shelby Pace, a beautiful, fashionable, private school student who is bored by her wealthy male suitors.
Marano, who was most recently seen in Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, will play Celia Lieberman, the daughter of wealth and privilege with a fierce urge to be herself at all costs.
Two time Emmy nominee, Walsh, will play Brooks’ father Charlie Rattigan, a prize-winning novelist who let fame derail his life. Georgiadis has been cast as Murph, Brooks’ best friend who helps him create the dating app.
This was first reported by Deadline.
