Lionsgate has announced that Robert Knepper has joined the cast of both of Francis Lawrence’s films, MOCKINGJAY (PART ONE) and MOCKINGJAY (PART TWO). He will play Antonius, the minister of President Snow, alongside Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sam Claflin and Natalie Dormer.
Details on the final two films are being kept under wraps, but if Lawrence follows the final novel in Suzanne Collins’ YA trilogy, it will center around Katniss being a pawn in District 13’s rebellion. Since the book only has 400 pages for Lionsgate to reap content from, I would not be surprised if scribe Danny Strong throws in some goodies of his own to make two complete features happen.
Knepper was last seen playing Kronos in “Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters” and Stanley Nawlicki in “R.I.P.D.”, but he is best known for his role as Theodore Bagwell in “Prison Break.” He also starred in the CW’s mystery series “Cult” and will next be seen in “The Mourning Hour”, “Into the Americas” and “Ride.” Knepper is repped by Innovative Artists.
