Robert Knepper is poised join Showtime‘s new iteration of David Lynch’s iconic TWIN PEAKS saga. The revival of the groundbreaking 1990 mystery series was announced last October, but didn’t officially get moving until May. Lynch is back to direct the entire series, based on a script penned by co-creator Mark Frost and himself. Peaks has been in production for almost two weeks now, with the intent to shoot the entire series as one long film that will later be divided into individual episodes.
Knepper will be featured in a recurring role in the new season, though that part remains a mystery. He joins fellow new additions Amanda Seyfried and Balthazar Getty. Original series star Kyle MacLachlan is back to reprise his beloved Agent Dale Cooper. MacLachlan is the only actor from the original series officially on board, though sources tell us that David Patrick Kelly, Sheryl Lee, Cana Ashbrook, Sherilyn Finn, and Richard Beymer will likely return.
“You should be optimistic that the people you want to be there will be there, in addition to some surprises,” Showtime president David Nevins last month stated, regarding the casting.
Knepper, a renowned character actor, is known for his standout roles on series such as Shameless, Stargate Universe, Heroes, Prison Break, Arrow, and The Flash. Currently, he’s recurring on TNT’s Public Morals and The CW’s iZombie. Knepper has also appeared in a number of features, including Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, R.I.P.D., Transporter 3, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, and Good Night, And Good Luck. He’ll next reprise his role as Antonius for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2, which bows this November.
