Robert Redford and Jason Segel are the latest to sign on to Charlie McDowell‘s THE DISCOVERY. Segel will be replacing Nicholas Hoult who recently left the project due to scheduling conflicts.
The two actors will join Rooney Mara in the sci-fi romance written by McDowell and Justin Lader. The film is set in a world two years after Redford’s character has discovered the existence of an afterlife. This results in millions of people committing suicide as a way to reset their lives. Segel will play his son while Mara will play his love interest with a tragic past.
Alex Orlovsky from Verisimilitude and James D. Stern of Endgame Entertainment are set to produce. Julie Goldstein and Lucas Smith will over see the project for Endgame while Mike Goodridge, Dimitra Tsingou and Eddie Vaisman will oversee for Protagonist Pictures
Redford recently played reporter Dan Rather in the acclaimed journalism drama, Truth opposite Cate Blanchett. He can next be seen in Disney’s live action adaptation of Pete’s Dragon with Bryce Dallas Howard. He is repped by WME.
Segel received critical acclaim for his turn as author David Foster Wallace in The End Of Tour. He is best known for his role in the popular sitcom, How I Met Your Mother, which ended its run in 2014. He is repped by WME.
