Robert Rodriguez Sci-Fi Adaptation “Alita: Battle Angel” Adds Jackie Earlie Haley

James Cameron and Robert Rodriguez’s ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL has tapped to join the adaptation. He joins previously cast Rosa Salazar and Christoph Waltz.

The film is based on the popular manga graphic novels, which is set in the 26th century and tells the female cyborg that is discovered in a scrapyard by a scientist. With no memory of her previous life except her deadly martial-arts training, the woman becomes a bounty hunter, down criminals. Salazar will play the central cyborg while Haley has been set as a villainous cyborg that will utilize CG and greenscreen.

Rodriguez will helm the film with Cameron and Jon Landau produce through Lightstorm Entertainment. The project is looking at an October production start.

Haley recently was seen on the small screen in AMC’s Preacher and also wrapped Sony’s The Dark Tower adaptation. He also appears in the upcoming drama The Birth of a Nation.
