Robert Zemeckis To Direct “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane”



Writer, director and producer has jumped aboard New Line Cinema’s as helmer.

Based on Kate DiCamillo’s novel of the same name, the film will follow an arrogant porcelyn rabbit who one day gets separated from his owner. On his many adventures to return home, he learns the true meaning of love. Zemeckis will helm from a script adapted by “Bridge to Terabithia” scribe Jeff Stockwell. Wendy Finerman is producing with David Blackman serving as executive producer. Mark S. Kaufman will be overseeing the project for New Line Cinema.

Zemeckis most recently produced and directed “Flight” which starred Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle, and served as executive producer on Shawn Levy’s “Real Steel.” His next directorial effort will be “The Barefoot Bandit” adapted by Dustin Lance Black from Bob Friel’s novel. In the meantime, he’ll be producing Jason Fuchs’ “The Magic Catalogue” and the sequel to “Real Steel.”
