James Badge Dale, Ben Kingsley and Charlotte Le Bon are all in talks to join Robert Zemeckis’ TO REACH THE CLOUDS. The project will star Joseph Gordon-Levitt as real life tightrope walker Philippe Petit who successfully walked a tightrope between the Twin Towers in 1974.
If they sign on, Dale would play Petit’s friend while Le Bon would play his girlfriend, a street singer. Kingsley would portray Petit’s mentor.
Dale is best known for his roles in Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed” and as Chase Edmunds on “24.” His upcoming roles include the thriller “Blackbird” opposite Cate Blanchett and Joe Carnahan’s comedy/thriller “Stretch.” Le Bon is a well known French actress and can next be seen in the Oprah/Spielberg produced drama “The Hundred-Foot Journey,” which stars Helen Mirren.
Kingsley is no stranger to biopics, having won an Oscar for his role in “Ghandi” and a BAFTA nom for his role in “Schindler’s List.”Kingsley’s upcoming biographical projects including “Mary,” “The Shah of Iran” and “Life,” a drama centering on a “Life” magazine photo shoot of James Dean where Kingsley will play Jack Warner.
The feat has already been made into a documentary in 2008’s “Man on Wire” which combined real footage and reenacted scenes.
