Carey Mulligan is currently producers’ leading lady to play the First Lady in the biopic RODHAM.
The 2012 Black List script, written by Young Il Kim, is set during the Watergate scandal, where a young Hillary Rodham is chosen for a committee to impeach Richard Nixon, whose responsibilities she must juggle with her relationship with her former boyfriend and future husband, Bill Clinton. Mulligan would play Rodham, in a casting race that has also seen Scarlett Johansson, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone also eyed for the role.
Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and Richard Arlook will produce.
In 2011 Mulligan starred in the successful indie pics “Drive” and “Shame” and has followed those efforts up with this year’s blockbuster “The Great Gatsby”. The English thesp will next be seen in the Coen Brothers “Inside Llewyn Davis”.
She is repped by CAA.
