Rodrigo Santoro is circling the role of Jesus in Paramount and MGM’s remake of the classic period epic BEN-HUR. As the newest adaptation of Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, the film centers around a falsely accused nobleman who survives years of slavery only to take vengeance on his best friend who betrayed him. Jack Huston is signed on to star as Ben-Hur, with Toby Kebbell, Morgan Freeman, Sofia Black D’Elia and Ayelet Zurer also in the cast. Timur Bekmambetov is directing the movie. The Sean Daniel Company and Clearview Productions will produce.
Santoro has solidified his acting abilities with such credits as Jane Got a Gun, The 33 and Pele. He was most recently credited for his work on 300: Rise of an Empire, and will next appear in Warner Bros.’ heist thriller, Focus, opposite Will Smith and Margot Robbie.
