The upcoming Stephen King adaptation has begun adding a few names to the short list that already consisted of Javier Bardem and Viggo Mortensen today. The project, which has been adapted by Akiva Goldsman for director Ron Howard, producer Brian Grazer, and Universal. So, who graces the new short list? Well, right across the top are the two names we already knew were in contention, but here’s the list in full…

Most notable right off the bat is the diversity of this cast on both ends of the spectrum male and female. But, that was something Ron Howard and Brian Grazer discussed very early in development, so it’s not as much of a shocker as some may expect. Of course readers of the books will have their own thoughts as to who would be perfect for each role, but please keep in mind, while this is an official “short list” that doesn’t mean any of them may end up with the role. But, it does give you a good insight into what sort of cast the producers are looking at.
