Rosa Salazar has been cast in 20th Century Fox’s THE SCORCH TRIALS. The “Maze Runner” sequel rejoins the group of kids who face a treacherous challenge on the open roads of a devastated planet that has been ravaged by solar flares. Helmer Wes Ball will again occupy the director’s chair, while Dylan O’Brien will be joined by villain Aidan Gillen for the sequel. Salazar has been cast as the female lead, Brenda, a girl who runs with the rest of the group and will become a love interest of O’Brien’s character, Thomas.
Salazar is most well known for her roles on TV series like “American Horror Story” and “Parenthood,” as well as for her recent roles in films like “Jamesy Boy” and Andrew O’Connor’s comedy “May the Best Man Win.” Salazar has also recently been cast in another YA sequel, “Insurgent” and the Scot Armstrong comedy “Search Party,” where she’ll star opposite Krysten Ritter and Alison Brie.
Salazar is repped by Paradigm and Seven Summits Pictures.
