Rosamund Pike Will star opposite Christian Bale in the period drama HOSTILES written and directed by Scott Cooper, who recently helmed Black Mass and worked with Bale in Out of the Furnace.
Hostiles is set in 1892 and follows the story of an Army captain who reluctantly escorts a dying Cheyenne war chief and his family on a harsh journey back to the tribal lands. Pike is set to play a widow takes part in the journey after the murder of her family.
The script is based on a manuscript written by Donald Stewart, who also wrote the Academy Award-winning screenplay for Missing. Cooper is also set to produce alongside John Lesher and Ken Kao of Waypoint Entertainment.
Pike earned an Academy Award nod for her role in Gone Girl opposite Ben Affleck. Her other film credits include Jack Reacher, The World’s End, and Hector and the Search for Happiness. She also lent her voice to the remake of the sci-fi series, Thunderbirds Are Go. She recently filmed A United Kingdom with David Oyelowo and can be seen in the World War II drama, HHhH with Reinhard Heydrich, Mia Wasikowski, Jack Reynor and Jack O’Connell.
