I never watched the nine seasons of Roseanne Barr’s show ROSEANNE when it aired in the late ’80s and early ’90s, so the fact the show is returning on March 27 does not intrigue or excite me in any way. It’s the latest show from yesteryear to be revived following NBC’s successful Will and Grace return and Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival.
In some ways, it’s more amazing that Barr and her cast have all returned, because some of them, like John Goodman, Sara Gilbert and Laurie Metcalf, have moved on to other things. Heck, Metcalf was just nominated for an Oscar for Lady Bird.
During those Oscars last night, ABC gave viewers the first look at the new Roseanne show in a teaser that you can watch below.
Having not seen the show or held it in any sort of esteem, the teaser looks okay, and it does exactly what it’s meant to do, which is to excite the show’s original fans. People seem to be making a big deal about John Goodman’s Dan being back, because apparently he died on the show, but who knows? Plus of course, there’s a lot more kids on the show as Roseanne and Dan are now grandparents.
We’ll have to see if Barr’s still got it after taking twenty years off between the show’s ninth and tenth seasons. Either way, you can count on the Tracking Board to have reviews of every episode once it begins airing on March 27.
