Straight off of fighting ghosts in Poltergeist, Rosemarie DeWitt is now going to be hitting notes for Damien Chazelle’s musical LA LA LAND. Set in a contemporary Los Angeles, the Whiplash director’s second outing features Ryan Gosling as jazz pianist Sebastian who falls for aspiring actress Mia, played by Emma Stone.
The duo fall head over heels, but find it difficult for their love to blossom as they navigate the aggressive and competitive climate of LA. DeWitt will take on the role of Gosling’s sister in the pic, while Sonoya Mizuno, Jessica Rothe and Callie Hernandez co-star.
Chazelle will reunite with his former Whiplash star JK Simmons, who nabbed an Oscar during their last collaboration, as well as with his Whiplash composer Justin Hurwitz.
The pic also reunites Gosling and Stone, who have played love interests in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad. The Lionsgate/Summit joint production will bow on July 15th, 2016.
Aside from her role in the Poltergeist remake, DeWitt’s recent credits include the Jeremy Renner drama Kill the Messenger and Jason Reitman’s Men, Women, & Children. Up next, she’s set to appear in Joe Swanberg’s indie drama Digging For Fire, which also stars Jake Johnsona and Orlando Bloom.
