The Barden Bellas are about to welcome someone new to their story from Litchfield Penitentiary. Orange Is the New Black actor Ruby Rose is currently in talks to join Universal’s PITCH PERFECT 3, the highly anticipated third installment of the female-driven acapella franchise. Most recently, Trish Sie took over directing duties from Elizabeth Banks, who’s still on board as a producer and the character Gail.
Details on Rose’s character and the film’s plot are currently being kept under wraps. The last time audiences saw the Bellas, they world the World Championship, effectively repairing their damaged reputation from the start of the film at a birthday gala for President Obama, and freshman Emily (Hailee Steinfeld) is given a proper initiation.
Despite graduating at the end of the second film, Beca (Anna Kendrick), Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson), and Chloe (Brittany Snow) are all signed on to return for the third film. It’s not yet known if any of the other cast are planning to return.
Max Handelman of Brownstone Productions and Paul Brooks of Gold Circle Entertainment join Banks in producing, with Sara Scott overseeing for Universal. The film is set to bow on December 22, 2017.
Rose first came to prominence as Stella in the last two seasons of Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black. She has a handful of upcoming films on her docket, including xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, John Wick Chapter 2, and Meg.
She’s repped by WME and art2perform.
