Christoph Waltz and Rebecca Hall are reportedly being eyed by Disney to join PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES alongside returning cast members Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane, Stephen Graham and Keith Richards. The specific details of the plot are being kept under wraps but it will follow Jack Sparrow on his quest to find The Trident, whatever that is. No formal deals are in place, but Waltz and Hall are definitely in the mix.
Waltz would play the film’s ‘big bad’ Captain Brand, a British captain who’s now a ghost and blames Jack for turning his brother Eric into a pirate and thus leading him to his death. Hall’s character, Carina, a woman accused of witchcraft, but is really an astronomer will supposedly be Sparrow’s love interest.
Jeff Nathanson wrote the most recent draft that Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (“Kon-Tiki”) will direct. Jerry Bruckheimer, Mike Stenson and Chad Oman will produce.
Waltz was last seen about a year ago in “Django Unchained.” He’ll next appear in Terry Gilliam’s “Zero Theorem”, Tim Burton’s “Big Eyes” and “The Muppets Most Wanted.” Hall was last seen in “Iron Man Three” and “Closed Circuit.” She will soon turn up in Wally Pfister’s “Transcendence.”
Waltz and Hall are repped by ICM and WME respectively.
