Details are being kept under wraps, but we do know the film will follow the original gang of “Ghostbusters” as they train a fresh batch of Columbia physics students to hunt ghosts. If Hill and Stone accept the offers, they would play Columbia students Jeremy and Anna respectively. Reitman is helming from a script penned by Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky, but rewritten by Dan Aykroyd. Etan Cohen is the last known scribe to try his hands at remolding the script.
Stone was last seen in Ruben Fleischer’s “Gangster Squad” and voiced the character Eep in DreamWorks Animation’s “The Croods.” She’ll next be appearing in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Birdman”, Woody Allen’s “Magic in the Moonlight” and will return to her character Gwen Stacy in Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.”
Hill was last seen in Akiva Schaffer’s “The Watch”, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s “This Is the End” and had a small part in Quentin Tarantino’s “Django Unchained.” He’ll next be seen reprising his role as Schmidt in “22 Jump Street” and as Snotlout in “How to Train Your Dragon 2.”
Both Stone and Hill are repped by WME.
