It’s been a while since we’ve had a good DOCTOR STRANGE rumor. Today’s candidate for the role is “Boardwalk Empire’s” Jack Huston. The Marvel sci-fi fantasy project centers on Dr. Stephen Strange, a young, arrogant surgeon with a promising career, who loses his ability to operate after a terrible accident. Despondent and suicidal, Dr. Strange seeks advice from a mystical being known as the Ancient One and learns that he is the newly designated Sorceror Supreme, responsible for protecting the planet from evil. It’s previously been rumored that Benedict Cumberbatch, Jared Leto and Tom Hardy have all been considered for the role, and that Joaquin Phoenix was in talks to star. While any or all of that may be true, the speculation is still running rampant about the film.
Huston has been in a variety of films, from “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” to “Kill Your Darlings” to David O. Russell’s “American Hustle.” He’s probably best known, though, for his role playing Richard Harrow on HBO’s crime drama “Boardwalk Empire.” As for his confirmed roles, Huston is next set to play Mr. Wickham in the big screen adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” as well as Fox 2000’s drama “The Longest Ride.”
