Rupert Friend Tapped For “The Death Of Stalin” From “Veep” Creator Armando Iannuci

Armando Iannucci’s THE DEATH OF STALIN has added to the cast. He joins previously cast Steve Buscemi, Simon Russell Beale, and Paddy Considine. 

The satire follows the Soviet Union in March, 1953, during the Soviet dictator’s last days, and depicts the chaos of the regime after his death. The film is based on the graphic novel of the same name by Fabien Nury and Thierry Robin. 

Iannucci wrote the with David Schneider and Ian Martin, with additional material by Peter Fellows. Yann Zenou, Nicolas Duvai-Adassovsky, Laurent Zeitoun, and Kevin Loader produce the film. The film is a Quad, Main Journey, and Free Range produce and is in co- with Gaumont. 

Friend is best known for playing Peter Quinn in the award-winning Homeland. He also starred in last year’s actioner Hitman: Agent 47.
