Russell Crowe In Talks To Join Tom Cruise In Universal’s “The Mummy” Reboot

The Nice Guys star is in talks to join in Universal’s , the first installment of what is expected to be a monster movie franchise. Crowe would join Cruise, ,  , , and in the remake from director . Kurtzman co-wrote the original script with , and penned the most recent draft.

The storyline is being kept under wraps, but will center on a former Navy Seal (Cruise) and a “Lara Croft” type female archeologist (Wallis) who come across a mummy’s tomb. Crowe would play Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which suggests his role could be link between a subsequent film in the expanded monster universe.

Kurtzman will also produce alongside  and . and will oversee the contemporary take on the classic monster for the studio.

Crowe, whose The Nice Guys hits theaters later this month, is also set to play Dracula in Eli Roth’s Harker, while he’ll also anchor the period shipwreck tale, In Sand and Blood.
