Ryan Gosling is in talks to join Johnny Depp’s Tonto in director Gore Verbinski’s THE LONE RANGER. Based on the characters created by George W. Trendle, the western will follow the adventures the masked Ranger and his Native American sidekick as they battle crime in the old west. Verbinski will direct from a draft by Justin Haythe.
Jerry Bruckheimer to produce, with Mike Stenson and Chad Oman serving as exec producers.
Gosling will next be seen in Warner Bros.’ “Crazy, Stupid, Love” with Steve Carell, and director Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Drive.” The “Blue Valentine” star recently exited Mandate Pictures’ “My Dinner with Herve.”
