Shortly after Neil Patrick Harris announced that he would love to be in AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW, it seems his wish has come true. NPH has been cast in the upcoming season of the Ryan Murphy anthology season along with his husband David Burtka. This season of the series focuses on the remnants of the last American freak show in the 1950s. Harris will play a salesman in the final two episodes of the season, while Burtka will be somehow involved with Jessica Lange’s character, Elsa.
Harris is going back to his TV roots with this role, after appearing in the David Fincher hit Gone Girl. Of course, Harris’ two biggest roles have been as the pint-sized doctor on Doogie Howser, M.D. and as Barney Stinson on the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother, which also featured Burtka as Lily’s ex boyfriend Scooter. Harris has also had a guest role on one of Murphy’s other series, Glee, where he played a rival of Will’s. Recently, it was announced that Harris will host the 2015 Academy Awards and he also has a variety show in the works at NBC.
