Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has taken an interest in THE ROSIE PROJECT as he is currently circling. If Reynolds joins, he would be the first major attachment since Jennifer Lawrence and director Richard Linklater dropped out.
The film follows a socially inept genetics professor who comes up with a scientifically sound survey to find the perfect mate. His plans go awry when he meets Rosie Jarman, who in her whirlwind manner possesses all the opposite qualities he should be looking for. The script was adapted from Graeme Simsion’s book by Paper Towns and The Fault In Our Stars writers Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber.
Lawrence was set to star as the titular character but dropped out after signing on for an untitled project from Darren Aronofsky and Paramount. Linklater left Rosie shortly after Lawrence.
Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan are producing the feature set up at Sony Pictures.
Reynolds recently signed on for the next Deadpool film, so this new possible attachment would revolve the sequel’s schedule. He will next be seen opposite Kevin Costner and Gal Gadot in Criminal.
Reynolds is repped by WME.
