The story centers on a young man obsessed with taking a one-way trip to Mars after his brother passes away and uses the voyage as an excuse to disconnect from the world around him, at least until he develops an unexpected relationship with the Life-Insurance Agent underwriting his trip.
The project has a lot of potential as it falls into a growing vein of science fiction, as we’ve seen with the highly anticipated Passengers starring Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt. In that film, the pair awake from their hibernation chambers mid-flight on a trip from Earth to a new colony. As near future sci-fi continues to pick up steam alongside the potential to inhabit other planets in science news, plots such like Passengers and Space Oddity will continue to grow.
