Sam Claflin has gone from trying to kill women in The Hunger Games to trying to kill women in Fox Searchlight’s MY COUSIN RACHEL.
The actor has just signed on to play the lead in the film, a young orphan named Philip who believes that his mysterious cousin Rachel (played by Rachel Weisz) has killed his guardian, who is also a cousin of theirs. The film is based on the 1951 Daphne Du Maurier novel, and it will be adapted and directed by Roger Michell.
Claflin has had his hand in quite a few of this century’s film franchises. He got his break in the last Pirates of the Caribbean film, and moved from there to grab a supporting role in Snow White and the Huntsman (a role that he will reprise next year in The Huntsman), then his big role as Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (a role he will also reprise in the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2).
He is repped by CAA and Independent Talent Group.
