Sam Shepard, Don Johnson and Vinessa Shaw have joined the cast of COLD IN JULY opposite Michael C. Hall. The story revolves around a man (Hall) who kills a burglar in self defense that causes the burglar’s father to swear revenge.
Shaw will play the wife to Hall’s character (Dane) while Shepard and Johnson play ‘sidekicks’ of a sort.
Jim Mickle (“We Are What We Are”) will direct from a script he co-wrote with Nick Damici (“What We Were”). Producing will be Rene Bastian, Adam Folk and Linda Moran.
Shepard was last seen in “Mud” and “Killing Them Softly.” He’ll next appear in “Out of the Furnace.” Johnson was one of many scene stealers in Tarantino’s “Django Unchained.” He’ll next show up in the comedy “The Other Woman.” Shaw recently turned up in Soderbergh’s “Side Effects.” Up next on her slate is “Electric Slide” and “Siren.”
Shepard and Shaw are repped by ICM, while Johnson is repped by CAA.
