Hot on the heels of entering talks with Cate Blanchett to play the evil stepmother, Disney is now testing three actresses to take the lead role in the upcoming live-action retelling of CINDERELLA.
Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander and Gabriella Wilde will all test for the role in the film, which Mark Romanek is directing from a script by Chris Weitz. Aline Brosh McKenna originally sold the pitch to Disney.
Simon Kinberg will produce.
After starting her career in Joe Wright’s 2007 film “Atonement”, Ronan most recently starred in last year’s action pic “Hanna”. She has several upcoming films including “The Host” and “Byzantium”. She is repped by MacFarlane Chard Associates and CAA.
Swedish thesp Vikander currently stars as Kitty in the recently released “Anna Karenina” and will next appear in “The Seventh Son”. She is repped by Tavistock Wood and UTA.
Wilde starred in Paul W.S. Andersons “The Three Musketeers” and has the “Carrie” remake and the drama “Squatters” on the horizon. Like Vikander, she is repped by Tavistock Wood as well as ICM.
