Sarah Chalke has joined the latest Garry Marshall holiday film, MOTHER’S DAY. Open Road Films is producing with Marshall, and the film is set for an April release. The cast is already packed with stars, including Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson.
The plot will revolve around several separate vignettes that, like Marshall’s previous star-studded rom-coms Valentine’s Day and New Year’s Eve, follow a titular holiday.
Chalke will be playing Gabi, a mother who is raising a son with her partner Max, played by comedian Cameron Esposito. Chalke’s voiceover work can be heard right now on the latest season of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty. Esposito, a rising star in the stand-up comedy world, can be seen on IFC’s Maron and in LA most Tuesday nights hosting the hugely popular live show, Put Your Hands Together, with her partner, Rhea Butcher.
